Our Story

EAGU began with a handful of teachers and parents in Kampala keeping a handwritten list of children who had stopped coming to class. Most had not left because they wanted to — fees, uniforms and a missing guardian had made attendance impossible.

That list became a sponsorship programme, then a welfare programme, then a mentorship network. Today EAGU works with partner schools, local leaders and district education offices across eight districts, and still keeps the same list — now with names, case workers and termly reports behind each one.

Why EAGU exists

Uganda has made real gains in enrolment, but the children furthest from the classroom are still the hardest to reach. We exist to close that last gap, child by child, with support that does not stop at the school gate.
